In Episode #83, I had the honor of sitting down with Becca Stevens, a speaker, leader, priest, entrepreneur, and the president of Thistle Farms, a multifaceted, international nonprofit. She founded the organization more than 20 years ago to provide a sanctuary and healing for women survivors of prostitution, trafficking and addiction not historically served.
Becca shared with us that this is the most important time for community and serving others through small steps that can make a large impact.
One way she and Thistle Farms are staying connected to one another while serving their community is by participating in a weekly Zoom call where they each light a candle and recite “We light this candle for the woman that is still on the street and the woman that is trying to find her way home.”
Becca had a strong desire to work with women on the streets all her life, and sought out to create justice work in a non-competitive, lavish way. Through such, she was able to create a global movement for women’s freedom that serves women who are survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. The movement has grown to a national network of 50 affiliated partners and 30 global partners which allows affiliates to take ownership in the movement and collaborate through shared trade fashion.
Becca reminds us that “We are stronger and bigger than a virus, we are going to get through this, and on the other side we’re going to say that we never gave up.”
3 things Becca hopes we can look back and say at the end:
1. We feel good about what we went through.
2. We became stronger, deeper, and more spiritual through the process.
3. We were faithful throughout it all.
Becca reminds us to seek out gratitude every day in the midst of this circumstance. She encourages us through this daily quote “My glass isn’t half full. My glass is just too big. Get small again. Take those few precious drops that you’ve been given today and let it fill your cup.”
My blessing for the day was being able to finally meet Becca Stevens, and I hope to learn more from her in the future.

Thirty Eight, The Year I will never forget.
I have to think hard as to what I did for my birthday last year. But, I bet I never forget the year I spent my birthday in quarantine.
I have been planning this episode all year! I couldn’t wait to share what all has changed in the past ten years of my life. I couldn’t wait to tell my network how I had once felt it was too late to step into my purpose, but found out that it wasn't.
This month should be a whirlwind for me right now! And, I should be telling you about everything that I have going on. It hit me last night & I broke down. Not because of my birthday but because of where I am in life right now with this current situation. I AM AN ACHIEVER. And, I’m realizing that I don’t do well with Staying Home and not achieving. I thrive when I am accomplishing goals!
I know that we are all going through this together, and everyone is navigating their own trials right now. No one is truly unaffected, and I’m sure that some of you out there are feeling the same way I am. I have found myself feeling incredibly aimless right now, and feel like rather than achieving, I am simply floating.
I realize now why I felt this constant pull on my heart for 10 years as a SAHM. I was constantly seeking what my purpose was in life. In the past 3 years I have fully stepped into that purpose, and it has felt so fulfilling. So much so, that I even wrote a book about it.
And now, here I am... floating without direction or an anchor. I have no clue what to do next. Seriously, I’m a podcast host and I am doing good to publish an episode each week and send out a newsletter. Otherwise, I’m basically clueless. I don’t know if I should move forward, turn left, or sit still.
So, for this episode, I took a literal page out of my own book where my 38 year old self tells my 19 year old self everything is going to be okay. Hopefully one day, my 76 year old self will be able to remind my 38 year old self that it all turned out great. This episode made me feel better about my current feelings of aimlessness, and I hope that you find inspiration from it as well.
At this time in my life, I have to remember to walk with God. Trust the path that He is leading me on. Know that He has gone before to prepare the way.
Micah 6:8 teaches us how to actually walk with God.
DO JUSTICE: Living Relationally with God and one another in the natural creation.
LOVE KINDNESS: Loving the act of being warmhearted, considerate, humane, and sympathetic.
